Privacy Policy
Millwo — Background Multi Timer, an Android application published by Millwo.
Last updated: 21 August 2026
Millwo does not collect, transmit or share any personal data. Everything you create in the app —
your timers, their segments and their settings — stays on your device. There are no user accounts,
no analytics, no advertising and no crash reporting, and we operate no server for your copy of the
app to talk to.
The app reaches the network for exactly one purpose: asking Google Play whether the optional
purchase has been made. Nothing you create in Millwo is part of that exchange.
Who this policy is from
This policy applies to the Android application Millwo — Background Multi Timer (package name
com.millwork.timer), distributed through Google Play by Millwork Engineering ("we", "us").
It applies to that application only. Any other software we publish is covered by its own policy.
Information we collect
None. We do not collect, store, process or transmit any personal information, device identifiers,
usage statistics or diagnostic data. We do not ask you to create an account and we have no server
that your copy of the app talks to.
The app has no third-party analytics, advertising, attribution or crash-reporting components
embedded in it.
What goes over the network
Millwo has one reason to use the network, and it is the purchase. To know whether the full version
is unlocked, the app asks Google Play whether this Google account owns it — when you buy, when you
ask to restore a purchase, and once each time the app starts. That last check is what makes a refund
take effect and what returns a purchase to somebody who has reinstalled.
That conversation is between your device and Google, handled by Google's own billing library. None
of your timers, segments, settings or usage are part of it — the request asks about a purchase, not
about you, and there is no server of ours involved at any point. What Google does with it is covered
by Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.
The INTERNET and ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE permissions in the app's manifest come from that billing library rather than from anything we wrote. We say so plainly because an earlier version of this policy claimed the app held no internet permission at all; that was true of the app before it could
be bought, and stopped being true when the purchase was added.
Information stored on your device
The app saves what it needs in order to work, in its own private storage area, which other apps
cannot read:
- the timers you create — their names, segments, durations and per-timer settings;
- the state of any timer that is currently running, so that a timer survives the app or the device
being restarted;
- your display preference (dark or light theme);
- a record of whether the optional one-time purchase has been unlocked on this device.
This data never leaves your device. It is not backed up to any service of ours, because we do not
operate one. You can erase all of it at any time — see "Deleting your data" below.
Permissions the app requests, and why
Millwo requests only the permissions it needs to keep a timer running, to tell you when a segment
ends, and to sell you the full version. It requests none that would give it access to your personal
information: no contacts, no location, no camera, no microphone, no access to your files, and no
permission to read anything about you.
This is the complete list, taken from the release build rather than from memory.
- **POST_NOTIFICATIONS** — To show a notification for each running timer, carrying the current segment and the time remaining, and opening that timer when you tap it.
- **FOREGROUND_SERVICE** and **FOREGROUND_SERVICE_SPECIAL_USE** — to keep counting while the app is
in the background or closed. This is the core function of the app: a timer that stops when you
switch away would be of no use.
- **WAKE_LOCK** — to keep the processor scheduled while the screen is off, so a signal sounds at the
moment the segment actually ends rather than late.
- **VIBRATE** — to vibrate at a segment boundary, if you switch that option on. It is off by
default.
- **REQUEST_IGNORE_BATTERY_OPTIMIZATIONS** — to let you exempt the app from aggressive battery
management, which on some devices stops background timers without warning. The app only opens the
relevant system screen; the choice is yours and the app works without it.
- **com.android.vending.BILLING** — to offer the one-time purchase through Google Play. Without it
the app could not sell anything, and could not tell that you had already bought it.
- **INTERNET** and **ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE** — declared by Google's billing library, which needs them
to reach Google Play. They are not used by any code of ours: the app has no networking of its own,
contacts no server we run, and sends nothing you have created anywhere.
The app also reads the list of ringtones already installed on your device, so that you can choose
one as a timer signal. It reads their names and plays the one you pick; it does not copy them or
upload them.
Choosing your own audio file
As part of the full version you can use an audio file of your own as a timer signal. You choose it
through Android's own document picker, and the app is given access to that one file and nothing
else — it cannot see, list or read the rest of your music, storage or documents. This is deliberate:
browsing your music library would require a broad storage permission, and Millwo does not ask for
one.
What is kept is the file's location and its name, stored with the timer on your device so the sound
still works after a restart. The file itself is never copied and never leaves your device. Android
lets you withdraw that access at any time, and if the file is deleted, moved or sits on storage you
have removed, the timer simply falls back to its usual signal.
For completeness: the build also declares one permission named after the app itself
(com.millwork.timer.DYNAMIC_RECEIVER_NOT_EXPORTED_PERMISSION). It is generated automatically by
Android's standard support libraries, applies only to this app talking to itself, and grants access
to nothing.
Purchases
Millwo offers an optional one-time in-app purchase that unlocks additional features. All payments
are processed by Google Play under Google's own terms and privacy policy.
We never receive, see or store your payment details — no card numbers, no billing address, no name.
What the app receives from Google Play is confirmation that a purchase belonging to your Google
account exists, and it records on your device that the features are unlocked.
The app checks with Google Play once at each start to see whether the purchase still stands. That is
what lets a refund take effect and what restores a purchase after a reinstall. Refunds themselves
are handled by Google Play, not by us. Google's own privacy policy is at
policies.google.com/privacy.
Sharing and selling
We do not sell your data, share it, rent it, or transfer it to third parties — advertisers, brokers,
or anyone else. This is not a promise of restraint: we have nothing to sell, because nothing about
you or about your timers is collected in the first place. The one exchange the app takes part in is
asking Google Play about the purchase, and that carries nothing of yours.
Children
Millwo is a general-purpose utility and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly
collect personal information from anyone, of any age, because we do not collect personal information
at all.
Deleting your data
Because everything lives on your device, you are in full control of it. To erase it:
- delete individual timers inside the app; or
- clear the app's storage in Android Settings → Apps → Millwo → Storage → Clear data; or
- uninstall the app, which removes all of its data with it.
There is nothing held on our side for us to delete, and therefore no deletion request for you to
make. If you would like written confirmation of that, write to us and we will provide it.
Your rights
Privacy laws such as the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to access, correct, export or delete the
personal data a company holds about you. We hold none, so there is nothing for us to produce or
erase. You may still contact us with any question about this policy, and we will answer.
Security
Your timers are stored in the app's private storage, which Android isolates from other applications.
Nothing you create is transmitted, so there is no transfer of it to intercept and no server of ours
that could be breached.
Changes to this policy
If the app changes in a way that affects this policy — for example if a future version were to add
crash reporting or any other data collection — we will update this page before that version is
released, and change the "Last updated" date at the top. Material changes will also be noted in the
app's release notes on Google Play. Continuing to use the app after an update means you accept the
revised policy.
